Daughter of King Ottokar I of Bohemia, who refused royal marriages to found a Poor Clare community in Prague in 1234. Saint Clare wrote her four Letters across two decades; they are among the finest mystical writings of the 13th century. She was canonized in 1989 by Pope John Paul II.
