The Church in Its Place
The monastery of Jasna Gora has guarded the venerated icon of Our Lady of Czestochowa for centuries. The Black Madonna became deeply woven into Polish Catholic life, national memory, and the prayer of families who came to ask for protection, perseverance, and help in suffering.
Czestochowa is strong, sober, and deeply Marian. The icon's marks of suffering do not weaken its beauty; they make it more human. This is a shrine for people who know faith sometimes has to endure wounds.
