Wawel hill
The cathedral and the castle share one walled hill above the Vistula at the south end of the old city. The cathedral is a working church inside a ticketed heritage site, and the two identities keep different hours.
On the ground Fifteen minutes south of the Main Square along Grodzka, then a ramp or steps up to the courtyard. Start here in the morning: the visitor route closes in the mid-afternoon.
